The Akon/Danah Alleyne dirty dancing incident at Club Zen has been featured on a leading music video channel in the United States.
For the second time in as many weeks, current affairs in Trinidad and Tobago have been featured on US television on VH1's Best Week Ever series for the week ending April 27.
For half-hour each week, the VH1 television show pokes fun of the week's current events and pop culture.
The producers use news, music videos, television and film clips to provide ample evidence of how silly celebrities, politicians, sports figures, and others caught in the news spotlight can behave at times.
This time, the Akon/Danah Alleyne situation was mocked as the show referred to a similar incident in which Akon had "dry-humped" US actress Tara Reid onstage at a concert in January.
Beginning the segment's lead-in by stating that while Reid had always thought of herself as a teen, the girl in the video "actually was one".
Showing a few seconds of the clip which featured Akon's performance at Club Zen, the commentator shied away from calling any names (neither Alleyne or Zen was mentioned).
Neither was the country nor Alleyne's father's profession mentioned.
Following the video clip, there were two sets of people commenting on the incident - with the first duo questioning how and why a teen girl had even been allowed near the rapper in the first place, and the second person saying he was worried he would get in trouble just by watching the video.
Approximately three weeks ago, one of the Best Week Ever segments featured the controversy which preceded pop star Sir Elton John's arrival in Tobago for the 2007 Plymouth Jazz Festival, when calls were made by local lay-persons to prevent John from performing because he is openly homosexual.
